Those wheels are in poor taste.

is there a chance you could repost the photo as the URL is blocked through some networks?

That hot pink color is pretty on a blouse, not a car.

No airbags? Could it have been pushed? Maybe the owner knows a bit more than they are telling.

These are perfect cars for a girl's first car. I will be purchasing one in 5-6 years. If it was pink and had chrome wheels my daughter would probably love it even more.

Excellent crash.
Takes skill to balance the back wheels right on the edge of the bank.
![]() 08/05/2013 at 10:20 |

hot pink paint and big chrome wheels = very effective way to get a 15 year old compact noticed.

Don't be so quick to judge the New Beetle, Timothy.

No, you were right the first time. Nothing of value was lost.

Where is the Florida gif?

Perhaps the owners father decided to take matter into his own hands and push it into the river? I know if my hypothetical daughter purchased similar to this ugly piece of crap I might push it into a creek.

For shame!
There was just an article here about why you should get a car in a bright color last week.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
And it's right! If somebody wants a bright pink Beetle, then a bright pink Beetle they should get. Because I'd rather see that than yet another dull beige Camry with dented rear bumper on the passenger side (I swear, every time...).
Am I going to buy a bright pink Beetle? NOOOOPE. But I'm glad they exist, and are out there, because the alternative for most people is a crappy bland boringmobile. At least the bright pink Beetle makes me grin like an idiot for being unusual.

There doesn't appear to be any tire marks in the grass. I wonder if they were jacking around and the car simply rolled into the river. Not to mention, with any kind of speed, the car would have traveled a little further out.

Almost looks like a life size Barbie Beetle replica.

We all have different tastes.

Oh thank you!! My wife pointed this car out to me the other day as we were driving around. It was terrible. What the picture doesn't show is that the door had "Barbie" on it (in the same font and all).
So happy to see it gone.

They're not all bad.

Hey, like I said, I'm not gonna buy it, but I will forever celebrate the different out there, bright eye searing colors and all.

Car suicide because color
![]() 08/05/2013 at 10:35 |

It actually had "Barbie" on the doors. My wife pointed it out to me on Saturday when we were out driving around. The person driving it caused almost two wrecks in a period of about 5 minutes.

Who steals such an easily identifiable car?
![]() 08/05/2013 at 10:39 |

The engine would have been fine if it was a Type 1 Beetle.
![]() 08/05/2013 at 10:39 |

I came on to post that the inline-five is actually fine, but then I remembered that, of course, the engine is in the front of the new Beetle.
Dummy. Need moar coffee.

Variety is the spice of life. This particular variety is more like Spice Girls.

Meant to post this here
Perhaps the owners father decided to take matter into his own hands and push it into the river? I know if my hypothetical daughter purchased similar to this ugly piece of crap I might push it into a creek. Actually hell I wouldve done worse, I wouldve pointed it toward the river, jumped out and dropped a bag of bricks on the accelerator.. Just to make it really count.

Seems legit.
![]() 08/05/2013 at 10:45 |

It wasn't stolen for the fact that they wanted the car. Someone took it and did the world a favor.
![]() 08/05/2013 at 10:46 |
|
It wasn't stolen, it killed itself.

HAHA.
![]() 08/05/2013 at 10:48 |

I thought that generation New Beetle only got the 2.0 four cylinder. Did VW put the 2.5L I-5 in that gen?
![]() 08/05/2013 at 10:51 |

A GTI can rally too, and rally harder, and not look ridiculous doing it.

"Stolen"

Still hideous...nothing redeeming about it.
![]() 08/05/2013 at 10:56 |

If forced to drive one or the other, I think I'd choose the hot pink over this abomination that shows up in my condo's parking lot every now and again. Bonus: Handicap plates. My first thought was "They're letting blind people drive now?"
![]() 08/05/2013 at 11:02 |

I came in here to say this. :)

Bad night for Barbie
![]() 08/05/2013 at 11:38 |
|
The way that I look at this is that owner loved their car enough to customize the paint and wheels and make their own. There's nothing wrong with that and I applaud them for doing it.
![]() 08/05/2013 at 11:42 |

It looks like a suicide attempt — by the car. So sad.
![]() 08/05/2013 at 11:44 |

Oufffffff rough-night, now were did i park ?
![]() 08/05/2013 at 12:02 |

Was this an act of public service?
![]() 08/05/2013 at 12:04 |
|
A real Beetle'd drive away from that after getting pulled out.
![]() 08/05/2013 at 12:09 |
|
You're half right. I came here to post the same thing. Engine options for this body style were the 2.0L NA I-4 or the 1.8L turbo 4.
![]() 08/05/2013 at 12:21 |
|
The New Beetle got the I-5 about the same time the Jetta and Golf did in the US (before the body style change). I can't tell if this car has the I-5 or is even new enough to.
![]() 08/05/2013 at 12:36 |
|
Yeah they are. Unless it says RSI
![]() 08/05/2013 at 12:42 |
|
Uh. Quick look at the taillamps will tell you this is a pre-'06 Beetle, meaning no 2.5l. 2.slow or 1.8T here (or possibly a TDI, but given the demographic of whomever combines those rims with that color...no).
![]() 08/05/2013 at 12:45 |
|
Looking ridiculous while rallying is a plus, not a negative!
![]() 08/05/2013 at 12:48 |

The bright pink is awesome. Those wheels, on the other hand...THOSE are hideous.
(Eh, if the owner likes 'em, whatevs.)
![]() 08/05/2013 at 13:06 |
|
Body style changes indicating this car was eligible for a 2.5L I-5 would include flattened fender flares and taillights that have the reverse light in the middle. MY 2006-2011 IIRC.
![]() 08/05/2013 at 13:51 |

It was probably done as a public service..

As a former resident of Hillsborough County, FL, It is with a heavy heart that I must inform everyone that this is far from the worst looking car in said county.
![]() 08/05/2013 at 16:34 |
|
Ok this still says its a five cylinder, nothing was lost here folks. This is a 2L 4 banger, or a 1.8T or 1.9TDI.. those are the only options!
![]() 08/05/2013 at 17:57 |
|
Only in Florida would somebody paint a New Beetle like a Barbie car, and only in Florida would somebody actually steal it .
![]() 08/05/2013 at 20:56 |

And some of us have none.

they are crazy in the hood here in tampa. ive seen that atrocity driving around a few times. nice to see it got what it needed.

Thank god they killed it.
![]() 08/06/2013 at 08:33 |

I probably taste like chocolate and wine.

Why does Florida do the things it does? I don't even...
